Chanel splurge! (No 5 Limited Edition 200ml Bottle and Bath Soap)

I'm such a sucker for "Limited Edition" or seasonal makeup, and apparently, fragrances are no exception ... at least, if you're Chanel No 5 (Marilyn Monroe's favorite). I find that I don't like most perfumes I test out at the department stores, but Chanel No 5 is my first perfume love <3. The scent is practically nostalgic for me - reminding me of the Winters of Chicagoland and rummaging through my mother's vanity area as a kid. And, surprisingly enough, I do not own a bottle of Chanel No 5 on my own vanity right now (I have no idea why). So, what better excuse to splurge on the Limited Edition 200ml (6.8 FL oz) bottle of Chanel No 5 Eau de Parfum? :D.

Yes, it is a luxury splurge (by no means a necessity), but I look at it as not only a sentimental perfume, but also a beautiful, and rather stunning, bottle to add on top of my makeup drawer (a.k.a., my makeshift vanity). I rather enjoy the aesthetic value of luxury products like Chanel. I really appreciate the lovely packaging, and the beautiful look of it on top of my makeup drawers. Also, I can't imagine needing to buy another bottle of Chanel No 5 anytime soon - this bottle is a BEAST! ;)

And yes, if you've watched my Winterlicious video, I mentioned in it that I also bought the limited edition Chanel No 5 bath soap. (You can see it on my YouTube video thumbnail right there!).

I absolute LOVE this bath soap! I mention in the video that the only thing more ridiculous than buying a $75 (well, $60 after 20% discount at Saks) bath soap, is buying a $75 ($60) bath soap and NOT using it (as a bath soap). This little pretty serves as a beautiful decorative piece in my bathroom sink top and is as wonderfully fragrant as any potpourri. I love the fresh scent of Chanel No 5 as I enter my bathroom, and the bath soap and soap dish are such an elegant touch on the sink top. What can I say, I'm a Chanel No 5 addict :).

Dior Diorling Doppelganger Lipstick?? (almost ... but, not quite)

After losing my BELOVED Dior Diorling lipstick (Holiday Grand Bal Collection 2012) just after the New Year rang in, I was desperate to find some way to buy it again ... after I had already bought the LAST Diorling lipstick at my department store counters way back in November :(. Much to my surprise, I found a seemingly reputable site selling it!! The same picture and everything. So, without hesitation, I bought it post-haste! The package delivered relatively quickly, and this is what I found:

Could it be, could it be?? The packaging looks right, and it says "Diorling" on the box :) :).

D'oh! ... really pretty, but not what I was expecting :(.

Hmmm, how to not be disappointed at this point was difficult. I mean, it's definitely a pretty pale coral-pink shade, and the gold bow packaging was the same, but ... it wasn't my BELOVED. Yes, I was misled and somewhat deceived by the seller's website (the site displayed the rouge red Diorling), but I felt too sad and defeated at this point to complain that the lipstick didn't match the seller's picture. The lipstick DID say Diorling, but it was 340 (not 037). Apparently, I had bought the Asia released Dior Holiday Grand Bal Collection 2012. The Asia Diorling was this pale coral-pink lipstick, but still packaged in the same gold bow tube. Oh well, at least the lipstick shade seemed pretty, and I could still enjoy the cute packaging.

Figures that I still wouldn't give up on finding my original Diorling lipstick. You can see me talking about it in my Winterlicious video

and even applying it in my New Year's Eve / Party look video.

I did FINALLY find a seller on ebay who not only have the correct Diorling lipstick on sale, but was selling it for the RETAIL price (NO markup!) and FREE shipping!! Could I be so lucky?? (BTW, I know I'm writing this narrative a bit dramatic, but I'm hoping my readers can empathize when losing one of their favorite seasonal makeup items). The seller was so kind and explained that she loved the lipstick so much herself that she bought several backups. She had several glowing reviews on ebay, and I definitely added one myself when I received my package (super fast shipping - like 2 days after I won the auction!). As if this wasn't enough, she even included 4 free Dior samples! How nice of her - really exceeded my expectations!

So, here are some pictures of them side by side and swatches. Now that I've gotten my BELOVED back, I've had a chance to relax and really look at the 340 Asia-released Diorling lipstick. I was pleasantly surprised by how beautiful it really is! Gorgeous golden shimmer in the pink - esp. in the sunlight (see swatches below).

Both lipsticks were released for the Holiday Grand Bal Collection 2012

Interesting that the ingredient list was longer for the Asia-release Diorling lipstick, but maybe it was just the golden shimmer in the lipstick.

YSL at CCO (my first time)!

While my husband and I were in Miami, we visited the Dolphin Mall (an Outlet mall), and I serendipitously found the CCO (Cosmetics Company Outlet) store! I've heard of these stores and the occasional stories of fortuitous encounters with Tom Ford (the phased out, white packaged lipsticks). Lucky me, I found Lancome and YSL at the CCO I visited. I went ahead and picked up two YSL beauties - the Eyeshadow Duo in 37 (Summer 2011 Collection) and the Creme de Blush in 2 Powdery Rose.

CCO discount price :)
