La Mer and La Barneys ;) (GWP bag of goodies)

As I'm getting older, I am trying to take better care of my skin. I'm kind of a "bad Asian" because Asians are known for practicing skin care religiously starting from birth! j/k ... okay, I'm exaggerating, but still. I take for granted my Asian skin genes (we tend to wrinkle less, but we get hyper-pigmentation - i.e., spots - on our faces), and now it's time to really take a look at skincare more seriously.

I don't mind investing in skincare (it can definitely get pricey!), but for some reason, I've been holding off on La Mer and their patented Miracle Broth. I'm quite happy with my mix of Shiseido, Erno Laszlo, Bobbi Brown, Guerlain, and Sisley-Paris ... but, wow - if my first impressions are correct, La Mer may be here to stay.

I'm still new to the brand. So, I only have two products for now: the La Mer 'The Lip Balm' and La Mer 'The Moisturizing Soft Creme'. I bought the La Mer 'The Moisturizing Soft Creme' in part because I wanted to get the Barney's GWP (Gift With Purchase) goody bag (see pictures further below). I'm a bit addicted to GWP's - eek.

Anyway, back to La Mer. First up, the La Mer 'The Lip Balm'. I've actually been interested in trying out Sisley-Paris' lip balm, but as strange and crazy as this sounds, La Mer 'The Lip Balm' is cheaper ($50) than Sisley-Paris ($72). So, I figured I'd try something new. I already own some Sisley-Paris skincare products (which work amazingly), but I have yet to really try the La Mer brand.

The lip balm comes with 9g of product.

First thing I noticed is that the La Mer 'The Lip Balm' is waxier than I expected (which isn't a bad thing). You definitely want to warm it up on the fingers and pat it on the lips (as the instructions indicate). Once it's patted in, your lips feel moisturized without being wet or sticky. The lip balm has a nice minty smell to it, but it's not overwhelming, and you hardly smell it once applied. I was pleasantly surprised how it felt on the lips, however, if you are not a fan of waxier lip balms, this may not be it for you.  I wanted something that I could apply for night time treatments (I didn't want anything with shimmer like my By Terry Or De Rose Baume Precieux, which is amazing, but shimmery), and this definitely delivers. My lips feel naturally soft and moisturized in the morning. If you're interested in it, I'd definitely recommend checking out  the La Mer 'The Lip Balm' at the stores.

Next up is my most recent acquisition. Sad as it may sound, I wanted to get the Barney's GWP (Gift With Purchase) goody bag. So, I picked up the La Mer 'The Moisturizing Soft Creme'.

I was almost hoping not to LOVE this as a MUST have, but it might be love at first "pat" ;). I pat a small amount of the La Mer 'The Moisturizing Soft Creme' on my fingertips (as directed) and then pat it onto the face, and WOW - you can definitely feel the softening effect right away. Because you are patting it into the skin, I don't feel like I'm using copious amounts of product. So, I like that I can be sparing in use and still feel the effect. (I would hope so for $150 an ounce!).

I purchased the 1 oz. jar ($150).

La Mer 'The Moisturizing Soft Creme' comes with a spatula for more sanitary application. Other brands do this, too - Sisley-Paris and Guerlain off the top of my head.

The La Mer 'The Moisturizing Soft Creme' feel like almost any other moisturizer to the touch, but once you pat and apply it, supposedly the patented Miracle Broth is released. And, as suspect as that sounds, I can feel an immediate effect.

Finally, a look at the Barneys GWP goody bag! I sent out a message on my Instagram / Twitter / Facebook on the beauty event (spend $200 for a GWP goody bag). So, I'm sorry if any of you missed it. There are always future GWP's and Beauty Events. Anyway, here is what I got!

First, a lovely, medium sized makeup bag with a cute tassel on the zipper. (I LOVE the colors!)

Cute zipper tassel ^_^

A peak inside.

The makeup bag and all of its contents :). (Closeup pictures below). I'm only a *little* bummed that it didn't come with the Deborah Lippmann nail polish as advertised, but otherwise, everything else was included as advertised - YAY! :)
