Guerlain Collection (Spring 2013, Holiday Liu, Limited Edition, and Permanent)

Guerlain is one of my favorite luxury, high end makeup brands. I don't think it gets as much "love" in the YouTube beauty community as the other high end brands. So, I went ahead and put together a Guerlain Collection video. In it, I discuss 5 things you may not know about the Guerlain brand, as well as the Guerlain products I own from the cosmetics line.

I want to make it explicitly clear that I am NOT paid to endorse this brand. I paid for all the products that I show in the video, and all opinions are my own. (I'm a Guerlain fan for all the right reasons :) ).

Here is a list of the products that I show in the video:

  1. Hi!
I have the Guerlain Perles du Dragon and was debating if the Spring Perles du Paradis were much different to the dragon? Is it worth having both?

    1. Hi, Ruby! Great question. I would argue no, unless you are a collector and really love the packaging (which I personally am and do). I think both Perles are lovely in their own right, but I can't say that the Perles du Paradis will be noticeably different to others looking at your makeup (even if you notice the subtle shimmer). Paradis has larger sized perles, and it contains slightly more sparkly silver perles, but again, I'd be hard pressed to say it's a MUST have at $70 if you already have Perles du Dragon. With that said, however, I do LOVE my Perles du Paradis. It's so sweet and pretty with the puff. I love having both :). Hope that helps. Thanks for the comment!

    2. Thank you again!! I will definitely let you know if I purchase Perles du Paradis. Another reason other than the obvious one. Haha! Is that I had read that the pink will tone down the yellow undertones.

  2. Thank you for the quick response I appreciate it. Do you find yourself reaching for one more than the other? Paradis is just sooo pretty!! Haha!

  3. It is!! :) ... As silly as it sounds, I reach for the Perles du Dragon more for night time looks (I think it's the psychological draw towards the black packaging and plummier colored perles) and Perles du Paradis for pretty daytime looks (again, probably because of the pastel packaging and perles). In all honesty, they're about the same effect (i.e., I don't find that the color of the perles makes a noticeable difference to others looking at my face), BUT I really enjoy the packaging of Paradis. Be warned, however, that it is cardboard, NOT the regular metal tin. So, it opens a little differently. For $70, cardboard may be disappointing, but I like the bigger size, pastels, and puff enough not to mind it.

  4. Haha!! Thank you for your help. :)
What to do... What to do...
Yes I did see your video where you talk about the cardboard. I wouldn't mind either. The Wulong compact is also beautiful but very pricey. From the reviews I have read it leaves a nice finish to your skin. Is Wulong different do you think from dragon meteorites?

    1. Sure thing! I'm happy if I can help. I also stalled on the Wulong compact, but I'm very glad I picked it up. Again, I think of it as more of a collector's item because of the beautiful packaging, but I also like that it's refillable (you'd have to buy the Meteorites refill - $55. So, it's not the same EXACT powder, but still awesome). The biggest difference is the portability. You can travel with the compact, and although, a bit weighty, I still throw it in my purse for nice evenings out. It's a little mattifying and gives a beautiful veil effect on the skin. I find it subtler in shimmer than the Meteorites, which shows a little more shimmer. So, they both have their uses. It might be difficult to find the Wulong compact online right now (except ebay for a price hike), but if you can't find it, I think the Paradis perles are gorgeous (both inside and out ;) ). Good luck! And keep me posted what you get - I'd love to know :).
