12) Tom Ford Eye Color Quad in 02 Cognac Sable

If you're interested in any of my top 12 products, please click on the item for a detailed description and purchase information. Enjoy! :)

I also included a product disappointment: Ellis Faas Light Eyeshadow E305  Holographic Bordeaux

The sleek packaging is more of a novelty than functional. Given, you are supposed to buy the range and insert this into its canister/holster (which also LOOKS cool), but really, it becomes annoying to use. The brush splays (I've given it several haircuts already), and the click release is imprecise (takes forever, and then , too much comes out).

The color is gorgeous, but what do you get for $42? An extremely dry and flaky product that pretty much removes more product than applies after more than two swipes. Oh, and it basically disintegrates at the sight of water.

I've tried over and over again to like this product, but I really should have returned it. Maybe some of you out there have had better luck?

Oh well ...

Anyway, I hope you all have wonderful New Year's Eve plans! I hope to post a NYE look **crossing fingers**. Till then, keep it classy and 20% cooler :).

Beauty Unboxing!! (Hakuhodo, Glossybox Dec 2012, and Chanel Spring 2013!)

Unboxing ALERT!! :) I've posted a YouTube video unboxing three packages I picked up at my front desk today (very exciting for me!!). I only really knew the contents of one of the boxes (Hakuhodo shipment!), but the other two packages were a mystery ...  Glossybox for Dec 2012 and a Chanel shipment (I was expecting two shipments and didn't know which one came in first).

So, first ... for those of you unfamiliar with Hakuhodo. They are the creme de la creme of makeup brushes. They are shiny little Cadillacs in my brush collection :) :). Hakuhodo is a Japanese brush manufacturer known for their high quality, hand shaped (not machine cut), extremely soft makeup, calligraphy, and other art brushes. You can check out their video here:

Most reviews I've seen on YouTube have just RAVED about how soft the brushes are. Interestingly, though, one reviewer commented on how they may be TOO soft for functionality. So, with an open mind and tempered expectations, I decided to purchase the Hakuhodo Winter Set 2013 - Limited Edition set.

I normally shun travel sized brushes (i.e., the MAC holiday brush collections always seem to disappoint - not as well made and a little scratchy, in my opinion), but in this case (for $179!!), I figured I'd give Hakuhodo a try. Let me just say that under first impressions, these brushes do NOT disappoint! I still need time to really use them and let you know what I think, but as promised, they are beautifully crafted and very soft. Here are some pictures of my brushes, the travel case, and the eyebrow palette (?? yeah, I didn't know they sold makeup either).

Enamel brush pouch (glittery russet), brushes, and eyebrow palette.

From Left to Right:
- K005 Eyeshadow/liner - Weasel hair - 121mm full length / 6.3mm hair length
- B264 Eyebrow - Water Badger hair - 121mm full length / 6mm hair length
- J5523 Eyeshadow - Goat hair - 131mm full length / 16mm hair length
- G5521 Highlight - Blue Squirrel/Goat hair - 147mm full length / 32mm hair length
- G5545 Powder/Blush - Blue Squirrel / Goat hair - 143mm full length / 38mm hair length

The second box I opened was my Glossybox for Dec 2012.

And my third and final box was my Chanel.com shipment! (I was expecting two shipments and couldn't tell from the box which one it was. So, it was a nice surprise to open it and see :) ).

Chanel Rouge Allure in 102 Fantasque

Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner in 102 Beryl
- Chanel Les Deux Levres Scintillantes Glossimer Duo

Hope you enjoyed the unboxing video as much as I enjoyed filming it! Happy holidays everyone!

First day of Winter is ... Spring?

Now that I've introduced myself and my intentions, I want to share a quick heads up to those of you looking for Spring 2013 collections (funny how today is the first day of Winter, and the Spring 2013 collections are hitting the counters). I went to my Nordstrom counters yesterday to pick up a Bobbi Brown Deluxe Travel Kit,

and lucky me ... my Guerlain SA (Sales Associate) found me and excitedly showed me her shipment of the Spring 2013 collection. And what a beauty it is! I had been eyeing it online for a few weeks. So, I immediately knew what I wanted ... the PUFF!! hehe ... yes, I wanted the Meteorites Perles du Paradis.

Who can resist that cute powder puff (look at that ribbon bow)!! I absolutely love my Meteorites Perles du Dragon from the Holiday 2012 collection. Now, my Dragon tin has a buddy named Paradis :). Is it strange that I'm slightly addicted to just the sound of swirling my brush in the pearls? **contented sigh**. As you can see from the pictures below, the Perles du Paradis container is larger than the normal-sized Meteorites tins. Also, the Perles du Paradis come in a cardboard "tin," which opens differently from the metal tins (pull the top and sides together like a sliding cylinder, instead of just popping off the top lid).

I managed to swatch most of the Spring 2013 collection at the display, and I was surprised how much I liked the 501 Attrape Couer palette. Seen below, it is a cool toned palette of purples and should compliment my brown-eyed ladies beautifully!

That's it for now. I expect to get my Chanel Spring 2013 shipment soon. Like the Guerlain collection, I'm starting off slow. I only bought two items from the Chanel Spring collection. I still have a hoard of holiday collection items that I'd like to blog and post on YouTube.

Till the next post (assuming the world isn't ending today) - keep it classy and 20% cooler.
